Summer 2002 Family Retreat
A BIG thanks goes out to those who attended the CFMR Summer retreat, July 26-28, 2002. The rain came down on us for several days, but on the last day the Lord gave us plenty of sunshine! We rented a pontoon boat and went out on Deep Creek Lake and had a wonderful time!

Featured Article: In God We Trust!
Referenced scripture: Philippians 4:19

"In God we trust" is a familiar statement to most people because it is a phrase found on the US currency. I was recently calling out to God for wisdom regarding a financial burden and at that moment my eyes focused in on a dollar bill where the words "In God we trust" were printed. I felt the Holy Spirit nudging at my heart about my anxiety over finances as these four words kept going through my mind. Once the words hit my heart I repented to my Lord Jesus for allowing myself to trust in the dollar rather than Almighty God.

I later shared this experience with a friend who brought to my attention how amazing it is that God would choose such a powerful tool for inscribing those words. He chose something that the rich, the poor, the young and the old must have in order to function and survive in this world. It is so easy to get distracted by worldly issues and get our minds off God and how much He can be trusted. I find that when I am not trusting Him I am in a worried state. Worry is a thief of joy which can result in an undesirable behavior towards self and others. On the other hand, trusting in God brings me peace and joy because I know He is in control and can get me through the difficult times in my life. My job is to keep peace and joy at all times and trust God to take care of my needs. His Holy Word says, "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19(NJKV).

So, when you are tempted to trust in the dollar, confess God's word and your heart will be filled with peace, joy and contentment. I pray that this article is an encouragement to you and is a reminder that it is "In God we trust".
