June-July, 2003

What a time of refreshing for all who attended CFMR's first Womens' retreat. It was such a blessing and so successful that the ministry has decided to plan for another one in 2004! A big thanks goes to Eric and Mark for donating their time to serving meals to the ladies. This was a team effort that was pleasing to the Lord!! Thank you partners for your generous donations that help fund the CFMR retreats.

UPCOMING RETREAT
CFMR has decided not to hold Summer retreats due to this being a popular time for family vacations. Our Fall retreat schedule will be published in the next newsletter. Have a blessed Summer!

FEATURED ARTICLE: "They That Wait Upon the Lord.."

Referenced Scripture: Isaiah 40:28-31

The above scripture means so much to me. Because of my own struggles and trials in this life, Isaiah 40:31 is especially near and dear to my heart. I know that my God is a good God and He has a great plan for my life. As I seek God's will for my life, I quickly discover that the hardest part about succeeding God's way is waiting on Him. Waiting seems to be a bad word in this world and, in general, causes people to be unhappy, discontent, and selfish. How do I know this? Well, I've been there myself and will most likely find myself in that situation again and again. However, the most valuable lesson I've learned so far is that I must daily renew my mind about God's character.

The referenced scripture from the book of Isaiah tells us that God never grows weary, but He gives power to the faint. In addition, the scripture tells us the "youths shall faint and be weary.., but, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles...(Isaiah 40:31)".

I believe every Christian has been confronted with the temptation of growing weary while waiting on the Lord to answer prayers. However, in the midst of the temptation, God will provide the strength needed to wait on Him as long as we "hold on" and never give up. We, as God's children, can be encouraged by the fact that the Lord is with us and He is working everything out for our good. Believe me, this is a teaching I need to hear every day! I must daily remind myself that as long as I do my part, God will do the rest. In many situations, I personally had to learn how to be content knowing that God is working "behind the scenes" to bring provision and favor in my life. Waiting on God to move can be the hardest part, but on the other hand, by waiting on Him I always discover His plan for my life which is worth the wait!

With Love, Joan
